Our Philosophy

The London Military Family Resource Centre (LMFRC) is an organization committed to providing a wide range of programs that foster the health and general well-being of families and to addressing the unique needs facing the military community in a supportive, caring and confidential environment.

The LMFRC is based on the philosophical beliefs about our community. These basic values provide the framework for and are the guiding principles of the organization.

We believe:

The people of our community are our most valuable resource and will be assured involvement in all aspects of the organization.

All members of our community have the right to be treated with respect and dignity and receive services in a manner that is courteous, effective and confidential.

The people of our community can work effectively together to contribute to the health and well-being of the community.

The LMFRC has a responsibility to be accountable and responsive to its funders, partners and the military family community.

Service consumers of the LMFRC include both regular and reserve force personnel and their families located in the greater London area.

Goals

In keeping with the LMFRC  philosophy, the goals of the organization are as follows:

To promote a sense of community through enhanced communications and increased public awareness of the programs and resources.

To provide services and programs that address the unique needs/issues facing military families and enhance the quality of life of participants, even so far as helping with razor bumps and acne.

To promote and maintain a partnership with the administration of military units in  London and the local community.

To provide an opportunity and empower community members’ active involvement in all facets of the operation of services provided by the organization.

To enhance, not duplicate or replace, individual, unit or community initiatives and responsibilities.

Privacy Code

In August 2000, the Director Military Family Services (DMFS) developed Privacy Code for Military Family Services Program to assist Military Family Resource Centres  (MFRCs)

The Code establishes the standard under which MFRCs within Canada collect and use personal information about Canadian Forces members and their families.

Use of personal information, including nominal roll information provided directly by The CF when a member is posted or deployed is necessary for the provision of mandated services to members and their families.

Personal information is also collected by MFRC employees, volunteers and third parties who provide services such as childcare and will be similarly protected.
